Due to tax cuts and the rising costs of textbooks, some USA schools are receiving corporate sponsored education materials.
This is just as bad as you think it is.
A 1998 study by the Consumers Union found 80% of these materials to be biased.
The educational materials were found to have incomplete or “slanted” information that favored the sponsor’s products and views.

"No one today can afford to be innocent, or indulge himself in ignorance of the nature of contemporary governments, politics and social orders." - Gary Snyder
"Why can’t we move past cyberpunk?"
In our cyberpunk *present* where megacorporations ruin lives, create global fascism, and end habitability of Earth past 2030, w/ extinctionary-capitalism, cliche 80's retrofuture is escape from futurelessness. And yet, true *punk* - resistance to overwhelming oppression - seen in works like Neuromancer, The Windup Girl, Sorry to Bother You, & mass-protests at pipelines and Paris streets, is more necessary than ever.

Some people identify with the fight.
Their identity is in their struggle.
This causes a problem -- what happens if they succeed and the fight ends?
If they win, they lose their identity.
This is absurd, of course, because there's always something else to fight for.
But perhaps their subconscious still fears success will lead to a loss of purpose and/or identity.
I ran out of characters but my point of this is that you can't let bad experiences while helping people prevent you from helping more people.
You will not get along with everyone on Earth.
Some people's natures do not mesh well with your nature.
Do not judge them.
Just let them be and move on.
And make sure you're helping for the right reasons.
Not for appreciation. Not for recognition.
Help people because it's the right thing to do.
I do my best, coming from a place of privilege, to help those without privilege as much as I can.
It is rare, but sometimes, I find individuals who are more interested in making sure everyone knows how hard they have it than they are interested in being helped or improving the situation (even tho they are requesting it).
I have to step back. Take a deep breath. Remind myself that this is their nature. And get back to helping.
They are rare and I won't let them bum me out from helping others.

"The US government directly employs 2 million civilians.
Active-duty military number 1.3 million, and the USPS employs 500,000.
There are also 1.3 million grant employees, persons paid through a federal grant and roughly 4 million contract employees.
The total, 9.1 million persons.
My ballpark guess is 40% of contractors and grant workers, or 2.1 million persons, are not getting paid (and won't get backpay) in addition to 800,000 civilian workers."-https://econ70.com/2019/01/17/federal-fiasco/

I'm going to go ahead and put this out there because The Left™ will dig it up about me some day anyway.
One time, in college for game design, I accidentally built a swastika shaped level.
It was purely unintentional and I want to expressly state I am not a Nazi, not a National Socialist, and stand firmly in the camp that fascism is not welcome in any capacity.

I struggle a lot with not wanting to use mainstream social media out of principle, and knowing that I have the knowledge to build a successful online presence and build sustainable income from it.
I took a big hit to my income when I removed myself from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
I can make a living there, but I don't make a living here.
